Insurance Card
Where do I find my policyholder’s number?
The policyholder’s number is on the back of your insurance card under item 6. Your personal identification number can be found on your insurance policy. It is a number with 7 digits beginning with 2.xxx.xxx.
What is the ÖKK CARD for?
The ÖKK CARD functions as identification when picking up medications at the pharmacy, for emergencies abroad and for other ÖKK services like the programme of the ÖKK Club.
Why do I need a European insurance card?
You need the European insurance card for emergencies abroad. With this card you can identify yourself and prove that you have insurance coverage in Switzerland covering your treatment costs. In EU countries, payments are made over a common institution. In this case, you do not have to pay the treatment in cash. The invoice will be sent directly to your insurance company.
I am going on holiday soon and will be travelling abroad. Should I take my insurance card with me?
Since February 2006, ÖKK members have the European health insurance card. The insurance card contains all necessary information to get medical benefits in the EU, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein on the back of the card.
We recommend that you always carry your insurance card with you. A tip for emergencies: save our international emergency number +41 41 210 44 88 on your mobile phone!
