ÖKK in 2022
The year 2022 will not be quickly forgotten. Geopolitical conflicts and the consequences of these left us faced with many new challenges. We were also dealing with the aftermath of the COVID pandemic, which saw healthcare costs rise. Extraordinary rates of inflation and higher costs for medication and therapy were further cost drivers. In such challenging times, it became clear just how important financial stability and solid reserves are. Despite these major challenges, we are in a solid financial position going forward and are continuing to make every effort to ensure our customers can benefit from a high-quality, affordable healthcare system.
Last year, we were able to gain the trust of even more customers, and we now have over 190,000 individuals and 13,000 companies on our books. Our premium volume amounted to CHF 800 million. In light of the increase in benefits paid out, investments in premium reductions and an extraordinarily poor stock market performance, ÖKK posted an annual loss of CHF 84.3 million in 2022. Despite this result, the company’s equity capital remains very solid at CHF 302.6 million. We also exceed the statutory solvency requirements. ÖKK is and will remain in good financial health. We will build on what we achieved in 2022 and look to the future with optimism.
Focus on policyholders
ÖKK always focuses on its policyholders, a fact that is backed up in numerous customer surveys. We receive extremely high satisfaction ratings, placing us among the best in the sector, and regularly in the number one spot. And we want to stay there: by continually boosting efficiency, digitalising processes where appropriate, developing new offerings and making further investments in our customer service. This allows us to be there for our customers when they need us.
Our employees drive the company forward
Our employees are there to help customers day in, day out – whether over the phone or in writing, or via our digital channels. They ensure that our customers feel at home with us.
