ÖKK customers can get free-of-charge medical advice at all times, no matter where they are, thanks to Medgate, the independent telemedicine provider.

Telemedicine is medical advice provided remotely. The doctor and patient do not meet in person, but are connected with each other via telephone, an online chat or a video link. The experienced doctors from Medgate, the independent telemedicine provider, can be contacted at all times, no matter where you are. The doctor makes a diagnosis by asking specific questions and listening to the replies, before determining the treatment required together with you. 

As an ÖKK customer, you can be at ease around the clock. Whether you develop physical problems in the middle of the night, you have a general medical question or you are unsure about whether you need to see a doctor, Medgate will provide you with advice, recommendations and medical help day and night.

Who can use the telemedical service and what does it cost?

The digital medical advice can be obtained from Medgate free of charge by all ÖKK customers, no matter what basic insurance they have. They only have to pay for the local-rate telephone call. 

Customers with the CASAMED 24 or CASAMED SELECT basic insurance model must always contact Medgate first with any medical issues (with CASAMED 24, they may also contact a pharmacist). 

In the event of emergencies or routine gynaecological, paediatric and optometric treatment, it is not necessary to contact Medgate first.

How does a teleconsultation work?

It is really straightforward.

  1. You dial 0844 655 655.
  2. Agree a time and a channel (phone or video) for a consultation with a doctor.
  3. The doctor asks you about your problem, listens to your response, makes a diagnosis and tells you the treatment you require.

How does the app work?

Thanks to the Medgate app, your doctor is there for you at all times, no matter where you are. Get started by downloading the Medgate app from the App Store or Google Play:

  1. Open the Medgate app
  2. Enter your symptoms.
  3. The app recommends whether it makes sense to receive treatment from a Medgate doctor by phone, video or visiting your general practitioner.
  4. You can easily arrange an appointment via the app.
  5. The doctor will contact you at the agreed time.
  6. You can also send your doctor other relevant documents via the app when booking your appointment.
  7. After the consultation, you will then receive a personal treatment plan via the app.

The app meets all the latest data protection requirements. Data is sent on an encrypted basis and is password-protected to prevent access by third parties. Users have to identify themselves using a piece of ID and their insurance card in order to have full use of the app.
