Telemedicine is medical advice provided remotely. The doctor and patient do not meet in person, but are connected with each other via telephone, the internet or a video link. The Medgate doctor makes a diagnosis or suspected diagnosis by asking specific questions and listening to the replies, before determining the treatment required together with the patient. Almost 50 percent of all cases do not need further treatment or a doctor’s visit after a Medgate consultation.

Advice for children and adults – by phone or via the app

As an ÖKK client, you can be at ease around the clock. Whether you develop physical problems in the middle of the night, you have a general medical question or you are unsure about whether you need to see a doctor, Medgate will provide you with advice, recommendations and medical help day and night.

This is how it works: 

  1. Enter your symptoms in the Medgate app or call 0844 655 655 and describe your problem.
  2. The Medgate doctor discusses the optimum treatment with you and if necessary, issues a prescription for medication. If the doctor is unable to help directly over the phone or via the video chat, they will recommend that you visit a doctor, or refer you to a specialist or a hospital.
  3. If you were referred by a doctor outside Medgate or the treatment takes a long time, you must notify Medgate of this before visiting a doctor.

The Medgate app tells you whether a telemedical consultation or a GP visit is the best approach. Medgate will inform you how this works exactly.

Round-the-clock medical advice – online

Would you like to consult a doctor, but your health problem is not acute? The WebDoctor at Medgate allows you to electronically forward your medical history to Medgate day and night. A Medgate doctor will then contact you within 24 hours.
