«ÖKK offers the best benefits, scoring 30 VZ points»
Daily sickness allowance insurance (also known as loss of earnings insurance) is not compulsory for Swiss companies. Nevertheless, many SMEs take out these policies, as daily allowance insurance provides financial security – for both employers and employees.
The latest study from VZ VermögensZentrum concluded that ÖKK once again offers the best benefits. ÖKK took top spot in the VZ rating.
Benefits explanation
ÖKK provides insurance cover during periods of unpaid leave. The loss or income is not reimbursed until the employee starts back at work.
The aim of family allowances is to partially offset the additional costs of having children. ÖKK also pays these allowances if you are unable to work as a result of illness.
In the event of an employee dying, their survivors are entitled to further salary payments. The statutory entitlement requirements must be met (support obligations).
ÖKK waives its right to terminate the contract in the event of a claim. This waiver provides security for policyholders.
The benefits expiry period is the maximum duration of benefits (730 days).
The 2023 VZ study concluded that “alongside the change in premiums, the differences in cover offered by daily sickness allowance insurers were large in some cases. As of 1 July 2023, the most comprehensive cover was offered by ÖKK.”
