Choose from five different hospital add-ons to ensure you have the ideal level of supplementary cover. One way they differ from each other is the level of comfort offered during a hospital stay.

* ÖKK START is the compact addition to your basic insurance and forms the basis for many other ÖKK supplementary insurance policies.

ÖKK OPTION is also a recommended add-on. It guarantees that in future, you will be accepted into our supplementary insurance policies. More information can be found here.

Requirements

  • ÖKK HOSPITAL can only be taken out as an addition to ÖKK START.
  • ÖKK HOSPITAL PRIVATE ACCIDENT can be concluded until the person turns 65 years of age.
  • After concluding the policy, certain waiting periods apply; these are known as qualifying periods.

Questions and answers (FAQ)

You can choose from six premium levels: FLEX MINI, FLEX, SEMI-PRIVATE, PRIVATE, PRIVATE ACCIDENT or GLOBAL.

With FLEX MINI, for example, you decide whether you want to stay on a general or semi-private ward depending on the situation.

Our overview of benefits contains a list of the advantages of each option, which you can compare with each other.

To the overview of benefits

In Switzerland, you get to choose your doctor – this applies for all five premium levels. One condition for this is that you have at least semi-private insurance.

With the lowest premium level (FLEX MINI), this means that you only get a free choice of doctor if you opt for the “semi-private” option and not “general”, and with the FLEX module, only if you opt for the “semi-private” or “private” option.

The term “free choice of doctor” means that you decide yourself which medical specialist you would like to be treated by in hospital. Please note that this only applies to hospitals and private practitioners recognised by ÖKK. The list of hospitals and private practitioners with limited or no cost coverage is available here.

Supplementary insurance is not mandatory. If you previously had an accident or illness – or other relevant events occurred – that are noted in your medical history, you may be refused entry into a certain policy, or only admitted with certain restrictions. This also applies with regard to hospital insurance.

To prevent this happening, you can choose the ÖKK OPTION now, which will give you unconditional admission to supplementary insurance in future – and for any of the ÖKK HOSPITAL premium levels.

More information on the offering

Private accident insurance provides benefits in addition to other social insurance schemes. Of the total costs, a maximum of the amount not covered by other social insurance schemes will be covered. If more than one private insurance policy is in place, benefits are provided subsidiary to other insurers (order of priority). This means that the subsidiary insurance policy only comes into play once there are no other policies that are obliged to cover the claim.

The insurance term lasts one year. The contract is automatically extended by one year if the insurance is not terminated (subject to the standard notice period).

Please be sure to submit a cost guarantee to ÖKK immediately (no later than ten days after entering hospital). In Switzerland, an employee at the hospital will usually do this for you.

As a general rule, you can choose any hospital anywhere in Switzerland with the relevant supplementary insurance policy. However, certain hospitals are not recognised by ÖKK. Please find out this information from us before your hospital stay. The list of hospitals and private practitioners with limited or no cost coverage is available here.
